The Grimalkyne sidequests may take a while, but are totally worth it. The goal is to befriend all Grimalkynes and get certain bonuses in return:

• One extra companion during your quest
• Trap outposts, that will help to trap a mounted monster
• Tail riders, so your Palico will ride one of the areas small monsters
• And most importantly the Palico Gadgets:
  • Flashfly Cage
  • Shieldspire
  • Plunderblade
  • Coral Orchestra
  • Meowlotov Cocktail

The first group of Grimalkynes are the Bugtrappers in the Ancient Forest. Find all their doodles and you will find one of them in area 17. It will flee as soon as you approach it. Follow it to the camp and the Grimalkynes will be your friends. As a reward you will get the Flashfly Cage for your Palico. This gadget allows Palicos to place a trap that acts as a flash bomb. A shock trap is added to this after a certain proficiency is earned. Your Palicos are now also able to ride on Jagras.

The second group of Grimalkynes are the Protectors in the Wildspire Waste. Go under the spire and find all the doodles to get the trail to their camp. They will give a quest, where you need to capture some Grimalkynes in the Wildspire Waste. Capture them all and go back to the camp so you will be friends with the Protectors. As a reward you will get the Shieldspire for your Palico. It allows Palicos to guard attacks and draw attention to them to help you out. Your Palicos are now also able to ride on Kestodons.

The third group of Grimalkynes are the Troupers in the Coral Highlands. In area 10 three of them are riding Shamos. Go to them and fight them all. After defeating them follow the doodles until you reach a waterfall. Behind the waterfall is the camp of the Troupers. They will now ask you to complete the quest "Troubled Troupers". Speak to them again after completing the quest. As a reward you will get the Coral Orchestra for your Palico, which is basically a Hunting Horn. It allows Palicos to play music to buff the hunter in various ways, e.g. attack boosts.

The fourth group of Grimalkynes are the Plunderers in the Rotten Vale. After slaying Odogaron, start an expidition in the Rotten Vale. Talk to the NPC in area 1 and get her five spiders. Complete the bounty and return to area 13. Talk to the Lynian Researcher and wait for an Odogaron to pass by dragging a Legiana. Head back to the camp and return to area 13. Now a Plunderer should appear. Follow it to area 15 between two glowing ponds. Then put some raw meat on the ground and hide. As soon as the Plunderers start to feast on your meat you can go to them and befriend them. As a reward you will get the Plunderblade. This gadget allows Palicos to steal between 3 to 5 items from monsters during a hunt. Your Palicos are now also able to ride on Girros.

The last group are not Grimalkynes but Gajalakas in Elder's Recess. Befriend all four groups of Grimalkynes and go to the Lynian Researcher in area 1. Complete the bounty "Cultural Exchange: Gajalaka Linguistics" by finding 10 Gajalaka doodles all over the world. Then go to the Lynian Researcher again. You will get the bounty "Cultural Exchange: Gajalaka Linguistics II". You now have to infiltrate their camp without getting seen. So go to area 8 during the night and take your Ghillie Mantle with you. As a reward you will get the Meowlotov Cocktail for your Palico. It allows Palicos to throw bombs at monsters. Your Palicos are now also able to ride on Gastodons.
